Piercing Aftercare

For the first month you will need to clean your piercing twice daily with salt water.

  • Simply add a 1/4 teaspoon of Sea or Rock salt to a mug of boiled water. Let the salted water cool a little. Use a cotton bud soaked in the water to clean away any crusting which has formed at both entry and exit point of the piercing.
  • DO NOT pick at the crust. Carefully dry the piercing with a clean cotton bud.

(Drying the piercing is just as important as cleaning it)

  • ALWAYS wash your hands with antibacterial soap before touching the piercing.

  • After the first month you only need to clean your piercing once a day until it is fully healed. This can take up to a year  depending on you and your individual piercing .

Please speak to the piercer if you need advice on whether your piercing is healed yet, or if it is OK to change your jewellery

Tongue piercings

  • Every time you eat or drink anything other than water, or smoke you need to rinse your mouth with diluted Listerine  – one part water to one part Listerine
  • You can come back to have the bar changed to a shorter one after 4 WEEKS
  • DO NOT clean your piercings with surgical spirits, teatree oil or similar. This is too strong and will actually delay the healing process.
  • DO NOT fiddle with your piercing while it is healing. This is the most common cause of infection.
